W.O. #8 – October 19, 2019, 10:53 AM desiree, October 19, 2019October 19, 2019 I finally got to this writing opportunity! I was probably subconsciously waiting for fall…yeah, let’s go with that! Writing Opportunity #8: Look out your window and write what you see with beautiful description so that I can feel I am there. Let the date and time be your title. 200 words * * * * * The sky is completely white with traces of smudged graphite, the remnants of an erased mistake that is determined to remain. The constant breeze vigorously shimmies the branches as they lose leaves like long-lost dance partners. The fallen yellow foliage sprinkles crunchy olive lawns and dark pavement and skips, flips, floats when gusts rage down C Street. I wonder how many days until our walnut, plum, and whatever the tree out front is become completely bare. A vintage blue pick-up.A vibrating neighborhood watch sign.A determined and well-wrapped older couple getting their Saturday walk in. A sprinkling of rain has appeared on the windows. I wonder if it’s worth watering the lavender at this point. Our 16 bushels have been resilient and rather lush for their first year, proving we can actually grow something–and it will survive! They will bounce back and return in glory come spring. Their faint purple ends continue to hold on as if they are fighting a nap. Don’t fight it, friends. Start the slow.Release the excess.Cozy yourself.Rest. Share this:FacebookPinterestTwitterPocket Related writing opportunity autumndescriptive writingfallwritingwriting exercisewriting opportunity
