CREATIVE NONFICTION WRITER Hi, I’m Desiree, a writer based in Walla Walla, Washington. I craft words for vivid and provocative connection. From cheeky quips to taking your heart hostage, I want my writing to go to bed with you at night. Not in a creepy way but as a cozy, giddy lullaby. Kind of like that summer romance that still puts you in a trance as you fix the kids’ lunches and no one can find their shoes before school. (Take a moment; I’ll wait, friend.) As a published creative nonfiction writer, I enjoy producing pieces of lingering storytelling; it’s basically my superpower. In fact, I’ve learned that admitting I’m a good villain, flaws and tasteless banter to the brim, makes me a decent hero. Equipped with a master’s degree in creative writing and Google certification in digital marketing and e-commerce, my work has varied from blogging and web content for brands to my own nonfiction pieces on Substack and in literary journals and magazines. And what topics do I write about? My mishaps raising three oddball kids. Staying married to my soulmate as I affectionately say things to him like “I just can’t take your face right now.” Female sexuality and sensuality, especially after the age of 40. Post-ministry life and loving Sundays again. My jagged attempts to define myself as a writer. I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, but I like it that way. And if you decide to stick around for this ride, you’ll get my twisted humor, freakish sentiments, and horrible life advice. My humility is your entertainment.
